Running for Impact: Tuendelee Foundation at the Alliance Classic Run.

Empowering Communities, One Child at a Time
Alliance Classic Run, Alliance High School | Saturday, 30 May 2026

Introduction

Tuendelee Foundation is a Kenyan non-profit organization dedicated to empowering bright, underprivileged youth by bridging the gap between financial constraints and professional opportunity. True to our name, which means “Let’s Progress” in Swahili, we provide tertiary education scholarships for deserving students, with a strong focus on business, commerce, accounting, and finance pathways such as the CPA program.

But our work does not stop at funding education. We also nurture future-ready leaders through mentorship, internship placements, and community outreach. A central part of our model is reciprocity: our scholars are encouraged to pay it forward by giving back to their communities, leading conversations that matter, and offering practical financial management and bookkeeping support to local Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

On 30 May 2026, Tuendelee Foundation participated in the Alliance Classic Run, not only to take part in a meaningful sporting event, but also to stand alongside a community-driven initiative that reflects our own values of service, impact, and empowerment.

About the Alliance Classic Run

The Alliance Classic Run is an annual charity event organized by the Old Boys Club of Alliance High School. It brings together alumni, corporate sponsors, recreational runners, and well-wishers in support of a shared social mission. The event is built around three main objectives: scholarships for financially disadvantaged and high-performing students, sports infrastructure development, and the nurturing of student talent in athletics and other sports.

The race offers 5km, 10km, and 21km categories, making it inclusive for competitive runners, casual joggers, families, and supporters of all levels. It also includes virtual participation options, allowing people to run from anywhere and still be part of the cause. Every entry contributes to the ACR Endowment Fund Trust, which helps fund scholarships, school infrastructure, and student sports at Alliance High School.

Voices from the Track

Beyond the collective achievement of the day, the true spirit of the run was best captured through the individual journeys of our scholars.

Shedy faced a difficult moment midway through the race when fatigue began to set in. Just when the challenge felt overwhelming, a fellow runner noticed him slowing down and offered a burst of encouragement: “Let’s go, let’s go!” That simple act of support reminded us that no one has to run alone. Motivated by those words, Shedy pushed through and completed the 10km race with determination.

Adano’s race did not go exactly as planned. He had intended to run 5km, but after getting lost along the route, he ended up finding a group of runners whose company helped carry him forward. What began as a short run turned into an incredible 21km journey, proving that unexpected detours can sometimes lead to even greater victories.

Traffic delays caused Moline and Nyanje to arrive late, and they missed the official flag-off. Rather than letting that discourage them, they stepped onto the course with quiet resolve and ran side by side, encouraging one another all the way to the finish line. Their shared determination showed that even a difficult start can still lead to a strong ending.

Chacha and Kelvin displayed steady focus from the very beginning. With discipline and strong athletic spirit, they maintained a fast pace throughout the race and finished among the first runners to cross the line. Their performance was an inspiring example of commitment and drive.

Perhaps the most powerful testimony came from Joshua Mainga, who completed the 10km race despite feeling unwell. When another participant asked how he was managing to continue, Joshua simply said that he was “running for impact.” That response captured the heart of the day and the spirit of Tuendelee Foundation – purpose, resilience, and service beyond self.

Experience and Lessons

During the Alliance Classic Run, Tuendelee scholars engaged in student-led conversations on education access, philanthropy, transparency, and leadership. The event became more than a race; it became a meaningful platform for dialogue, connection, and opportunity.

We also connected with several individuals and organizations interested in partnerships. Some of these organizations explored mentorship and attachment opportunities, while others engaged in discussions around possible corporate visits and collaboration, and some showed interest in supporting scholarship expansion. These interactions reminded us that impact grows when people and institutions are willing to listen, collaborate, and act.

The day also reinforced a few important lessons. Real impact requires teamwork, clear communication, and a shared sense of purpose. It also depends on empathy, follow-up, and the willingness to see unexpected moments not as setbacks, but as opportunities to build stronger relationships and deeper understanding.

Questions Raised

Our interactions with students and members of the public generated valuable questions about our work. Many people wanted to better understand our scholarship framework, including eligibility requirements, the transition to competency-based education, and whether our support is limited to business and finance courses or open to a wider range of disciplines.

These questions were encouraging because they showed genuine interest in our mission and created an opening for future engagement with students, parents, partners, and supporters.

Conclusion

Tuendelee Foundation’s participation in the Alliance Classic Run was a resounding success and a powerful expression of our mission to run for impact. We did not simply take part in a race; we built connections, opened doors to possible partnerships, engaged with young people, and shared our vision with a wider audience.

The day reminded us that meaningful impact is built through purpose, empathy, resilience, and collaboration. As we carry these lessons forward, we remain committed to expanding our reach and continuing to transform lives through education, mentorship, and leadership development.
