What presents today as a triumphant professional leap actually began in a moment of intense uncertainty, proving that behind every noticeable success is an ecosystem of people and institutions that chose to invest early. He shares:
A Critical Turning Point
There are moments in life when an opportunity arrives at precisely the time you need it most. You may not fully appreciate its significance when it happens, but years later, when you look back, you begin to understand that it was not simply an opportunity, it was a turning point.
My journey with Tuendelee Foundation is one of those stories.
There was a time when pursuing higher education was uncertain for me. The desire to continue my studies was there, but the financial reality made it difficult to see how it would happen. At a point when things were particularly tough and paying my fees was beyond what I could comfortably afford, Tuendelee Foundation stepped in and sponsored my higher education. That support did more than settle a financial obligation; it gave me the chance to continue pursuing a future that, under different circumstances, might have looked very different.
What made the experience particularly meaningful was that Tuendelee’s support did not end with paying school fees. The Foundation understood that education is not only about being in a classroom, but also about being exposed to people, experiences and opportunities that help a young person discover what they can become”.
Mentorship and Real-World Exposure
Through the Tuendelee mentorship program, I was paired with a mentor whose influence extended well beyond the formal structure of the program. The guidance, perspective and encouragement I received became an important part of my personal and professional development. Having someone who could share experience, challenge my thinking and offer perspective at different points in my journey reminded me that sometimes what a young person needs is not simply financial assistance, but someone willing to invest in their potential.
The Foundation also gave me opportunities to begin translating academic knowledge into practical experience. Through an internship, I gained exposure to accounting work and developed skills that could not have been acquired from textbooks alone. I was also privileged to participate in an audit under Tuendelee Consulting, an experience that allowed me to see the profession from a practical perspective and appreciate the discipline, attention to detail and responsibility that accounting and audit demand.
Those experiences remained with me. They became part of the foundation on which I have continued to build.
Stepping into KPMG
Today, I am beginning another important stage of that journey as I join KPMG, an opportunity that I regard with both excitement and humility. It is an environment that will challenge me to learn continuously, sharpen my technical abilities and grow into the professional I aspire to become. While this is undoubtedly a new opportunity, I know that I did not arrive at this point alone.
Behind every new beginning are people and institutions whose contribution may not always be visible in the final achievement. For me, Tuendelee Foundation is an important part of that story. At a time when I needed someone to believe in the possibility of my future, they provided not only financial support, but also mentorship, exposure and opportunities that helped prepare me for the world beyond university.
As I move into this new phase, I carry that history with me. I remain deeply grateful for the education I was able to pursue, for the mentor who took the time to invest in me, for the practical experiences that introduced me to the profession, and for everyone at Tuendelee who played a part in creating those opportunities.
Perhaps the most meaningful way to honor such support is not simply to remember it, but to allow it to influence how you approach your own journey. I hope that as I continue to grow in my career, I will also have the opportunity to create opportunities for others, just as one was created for me when I needed it most.
My journey is far from complete, and joining KPMG is not the destination. It is another step in a story that began during a difficult season, when an institution chose to invest in my potential.
